Midsummer and GTEC have teamed up to deliver a series of high-quality, practical training courses to prepare you for work in renewables installation. Our three-day courses will provide guided demonstrations in the design, installation and maintenance of either solar or heat pump systems, boosting your skills to get you installing with confidence.

Our aim is to get engineers with strong experience in traditional electrical and heating systems to come along and get upskilled into the world of renewables. We want to make the pathway into renewables installation clearer and more accessible for those skilled installers out there who recognise the importance and growth potential of the clean energy sector.

What will be on offer?
These will be in person, practical courses focusing on either Solar PV or Heat Pump technology. Each of the courses will last three days and will be conducted in either Glasgow or Cambridge. The teaching will be predominantly hands-on, with GTEC’s instructors imparting their invaluable expertise. Attendants will be given design and installation demonstrations as well as guided practice using demo rigs and a range of live equipment. There’ll also the be the opportunity to get to grips with the theory of the technology to really boost your confidence with the in and outs of renewables systems. Furthermore, the course will cover the all-important regulations and standards required to carry out safe and dependable installations.

What do you get out of it?
Attendees will leave with a high standard of competency, giving them the knowledge to begin installing with confidence. At the end of the courses there will be a practical, observed assignment and a multiple-choice, open-book theory assessment. Upon successful completion of the course and the related assessment, you will be awarded an LCL Awards Level 3 Certificate, which is recognised by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)
By attending these courses and attaining this certification you’ll be giving your career a huge boost. As a heating or electrical engineer, getting upskilled into renewables will not only open up your current potential job opportunities, but secure your career in an increasingly sustainability-focused market for years to come.

Is it right for you?
We intend these courses to act as a bridge between conventional technology and renewables, giving engineers a clear and trustworthy means for career progression. They will be high-standard, in-depth training sessions for those with a good level of prior installation and/or maintenance experience.
As such, these courses will be less appropriate for beginners to electrical and heating systems. In order to ensure they are conducted at the correct standard, anyone interested in the courses will be required to hold specific prerequisite qualifications (for more details follow the links below). If you do not hold the exact prerequisites it may still be possible to attend the course provided you can show evidence of equal qualifications or sufficient prior knowledge.

Fees
Each of the courses will cost £660.00 (exc. VAT) for the whole 3 days.
