Learn how to install high quality, high efficiency Air Source Heat Pump systems with this specialist course brought to you by two of the UK's leading renewables experts.
This three-day training course is designed for experienced heating installers who wish to future-proof and expand their skill set to include the installation and maintenance of ASHPs in domestic and small commercial settings.

 

This Air Source Heat Pump Installation Course delivers the knowledge, skills and competency required to design, specify, install, commission and maintain domestic and small commercial air source heat pumps. During the course, you will receive practical training, including work on purpose-built Live ASHP rigs

At the end of the 3-days, you will undertake a practical, observed assignment and multiple-choice, open-book theory assessment. On completion of this course, you will receive an LCL Awards Level 3 Certificate, which is recognised by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

What are the prerequisites?
To enrol on this Air Source Heat Pump installation course, you need to hold the following qualifications:

  • Level 2/3 SVQ or NVQ in plumbing, heating/ventilation gas or oil. 
  • WRAS Water Regulations, which can be completed with GTEC in addition to your ASHP qualification if necessary. 

If you don't hold the above pre-requisites, please contact the GTEC on 01969 666111 to determine if you have relevant qualifications for this course, if the candidate has relevant prior experience we may be able to progress with a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) - this will be charged at £70 + VAT per candidate.

This Air Source Heat Pump Installation Course enables operatives to specify, survey, design and install domestic or small commercial heat pump systems, enlisting manufacturers support where required. Systems up to 16kW for air source heat pumps are covered, plus the following areas:

  • Background to market.
  • Heat pump regulations and guidance.
  • Principles of air source heat pump operation.
  • Heat pump types.
  • Matching to the correct heating system.
  • Pre-installation requirements.
  • Installation materials and methods.
  • Setting to work, commissioning.
  • Heat pump servicing and fault finding.
