Coronavirus and Brexit statements

Coronavirus statement (Updated 08.01.2021)

As the situation with Coronavirus continues to develop in the UK and across the world, Midsummer are doing everything possible to maintain a good level of service to our customers, whilst also guaranteeing the safety of our staff.

All office staff are now working remotely and our warehouse is operating with reduced numbers with protocols in place to restrict interaction with others when dispatching orders.

Stock availability

We still have good stock levels with more products on order and due to arrive in the coming weeks and months - although their arrival is of course subject to the continued operation of logistics firms and the international flow of goods. In the unlikely circumstance that we find ourselves low on particular product lines, we would kindly ask that customers remain flexible about the exact products required as substitutes may be more readily available.

Delivery

Getting your orders delivered relies on the operation of our logistic partners. We anticipate their services to be reduced, restricted and over-subscribed, and we ask our customers to be understanding of any delays that may occur and which are out of our control. We work with many logistics partners and remain in constant contact for updates to services and will do our best to relay any information to you.

General business

In the event of a government-imposed lock down of non-essential businesses, Midsummer are well positioned to remain dormant for a time and reopen for business when practical. Our sales and account teams will remain active and will be happy to take orders, product enquiries and help with any customer service issues, so please do reach out to us. We will do our utmost to continue dispatching the orders we receive, for as long as is practical and without putting our team at risk.

We will also use this time to make improvements to our business including our website, customer service and general operations and we intend to run instructive webinars for installers on a wide variety of topics, so please keep an eye out for more information.

We are, as ever, extremely grateful to our team for going above and beyond under difficult circumstances, and thankful as well to the loyalty and understanding of regular customers.

Our thoughts go to all of those suffering with the impact of this virus, and our thanks go to those on the front lines for protecting us. We hope that everyone is doing their best to stay safe and look out for one another in these times.

Brexit Statement

As we're sure you're aware, the UK and the renewables industry is already seeing the impact of Brexit on imported goods. With the main UK ports experiencing huge volumes of inbound cargo, compounded by the global pandemic, bottlenecks are appearing more frequently.

UK Government - Current situation

Despite the recent news of a deal being struck, there is very little clarity from the government on what situation the UK will find itself in come January 1st 2021, and whether a deal with the EU is agreed or not. As a result, this makes planning for Brexit relatively tricky; having spoken with our customs agents, they're also in the dark about how exactly importing and exporting goods will work.

With this in mind, we are anticipating continued delays through the rest of December and into Q1 of 2021.

What are we doing in preparation?

We've been communicating regularly with our suppliers with regard to their stock levels, forward planning both the paperwork and supply chain to minimise any impact for our customers.

We've also built up stock reserves on integral product lines and are confident in maintaining sufficient stock levels into Q1 2021.

However, given the current situation and the increasing positive demand from the renewables industry, we would kindly ask that you be flexible during this period with both product choices and delivery times.

If we do happen to find ourselves in short supply on any popular product lines or specific manufacturers, we are confident that our portfolio is broad enough to offer a suitable alternate and we kindly ask that you work with your account manager to find a viable solution.

If you have any large projects for Q1 2021 then please get in touch with us ASAP with the details so we can consider options together and ensure delivery is as smooth as possible.

For the most up to date information on stock availability, please check our website or speak with your account manager.

Many thanks for your continued support and patience during these uncertain times.
