UI/UX Designer
We're looking for a UI/UX designer to join our growing software development team to produce high quality software designs that our developers can turn into reality.
About the role
This role is ideal for a designer with experience working in UI and UX design for public facing web applications. A solid understanding of the practical realities of web development and software delivery will be valuable. We are seeking a candidate with a strong sense of design and a collaborative mindset. Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Contributing to both new feature development and improvements of our existing software (Easy PV and Heatpunk).
- Collaborating with stakeholders and developers to define features and user flows.
- Creating wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready designs using tools such as Figma.
- Breaking down large-scale projects into stages for practical implementation.
- Generating accessible, user-centered designs that adhere to industry standards.
- Maintaining and improving our design systems and style guides.
- Offering design support for our e-commerce site and internal systems.
About us
We sell solar PV systems, battery storage, electric vehicle chargers, heat pumps and a variety of associated products. We were recognised as the UK's best renewables distributor in 2020 and 2022, and Easy PV came out top (by a large margin!) in a LinkedIn poll for the most popular PV design software in the UK.
As an organisation, we have a strong environmental ethos and a passion for promoting the uptake of renewable energy, and our team share a belief in an open and honest approach to business.
About you
- You are an experienced UI/UX designer with a keen eye for aesthetics and an intuitive sense of user workflow.
- You enjoy working collaboratively but are personally motivated.
- You will have a flexible approach to the software design and development process and remain responsive to the specific needs and constraints of each project.
- You have excellent communication and collaborative skills.
What we offer
The position is based in our offices neighbouring Milton Country Park on the outskirts of Cambridge. We are open to some degree of flexible working but we expect you to be primarily working in the office.
Salary is negotiable and will depend on your experience. We aim to be competitive. In addition to base salary we have a policy of sharing a proportion of the profits of the company amongst long-term employees.
You won't get a company car - we'd rather encourage people to get on their bike or take public transport. But you do get a free bag of delicious, fresh, locally-grown organic veg every week.
Please review the application pack and then complete the online application form. If you have any questions before applying, please email us at jobs@midsummerenergy.co.uk.
