Meet Emma Stroud - Scotland Operations Manager

Emma started at Midsummer in 2021 as one of our trainee graduates. After finishing her degree in Natural Sciences at the University of East Anglia, she lived and worked in Spain, working in a number of environmental roles and perfecting her Spanish.

She is now heading up North to coordinate the inbound, outbound, and warehouse operations of our new Scotland hub. Having worked very capably in all areas of the company over the last year, we are thrilled to have such a friendly and reliable head of operations. Scotland will be in safe hands!

Outside of work Emma loves a wide variety of hobbies - everything from wild swimming to salsa, aerial silks to van life travelling. Originally from Yorkshire, Emma's love of hills has drawn her away from the Cambridgeshire flats to the mountains of Scotland, which she's very excited for!

Here's a few more things about Emma...

Favourite meal to cook?

Anything! Being in a kitchen is one of the places I'm happiest. If I had to pick one thing, maybe a good curry? It can be as fancy and time-consuming as you like, but also be super speedy if you're in a rush.

What was your dream job when you were younger?

Once I'd moved on from my phase of wanting to be a choreographer for S-Club 7.. I decided being a zoo keeper would be the dream. I don't think I'd ever heard of operations and logistics!

If you could have dinner with 3 people?

Tricky! I'd want them to get along.. no awkward silences. I think Emma Thompson, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Louis Theroux would be fantastic company around a dinner table. They'd all make for a really interesting convo!

Where is your favourite place in the UK?

The Lake District, or Snowdonia, give me mountains, greenery, and somewhere to swim and I'm happy.

What is the best book you have ever read?

Best, I'm not sure, but I could read The Hobbit again and again..

Most looking forward to at Midsummer Glasgow...?

I'm really looking forward to the challenge of setting up an operation, and building a team from scratch. I can't wait to get stuck in and start getting orders out of the door!
