Install Once, Expand Anytime: Building Truly Flexible Energy Ecosystems

Battery storage is a core component of any solar energy system. The success of a renewable energy system isn’t just about how much energy we’re making, but how much we’re holding onto.

However, choosing the best battery for a project isn’t as straightforward as it seems. You might size a system perfectly for a residential or commercial site, only for the client to add an EV charger or a heat pump a year later. Combine that with freezing winter temperatures that can slash standard battery efficiency by 10-20%, and it becomes clear that static storage solutions are no longer enough.

You need a battery ecosystem that adapts to changing site requirements without forcing a complete overhaul.

Fox ESS have introduced a battery into their range that’s well equipped to face these problems; the CQ7. As a high-voltage, completely stackable system, the CQ7 allows you to expand a client's storage capacity seamlessly as their needs grow. Instead of ripping out undersized units, you simply add modules to the existing stack. It’s also a reliable battery as the weather changes. The batteries feature a warming function that allows battery charging and discharging to occur at temperatures as low as -25°C.

The CQ7 currently boasts the largest residential stacking option on the market. For single-phase residential setups, you can stack up to 7 modules to reach 49.14kWh. For larger homes or commercial three-phase projects, you can connect up to 14 slave modules in series for a massive 98.28kWh capacity.

The size of the CQ7 doesn’t mean a long installation process. The modular design of the CQ7 is built around a plug-and-play architecture, significantly reducing complex wiring and physical installation time for you and your crew.

As residential and commercial power demands become increasingly unpredictable, the days of installing rigid, non-expandable storage are ending. Installers need to tackle the storage problem head-on with solutions that prioritise flexibility. By moving toward modular, weather-hardy systems like the Fox ESS CQ7, you can stop fighting system limitations and start building energy storage that is actually prepared for the future
